We trained parents about fluency through a ppt and demonstration. We then gave parents a month-long calendar of daily ideas for improving fluency. Students could bring back the calendars at the end of the month for a prize, if a certain number of activities were completed. We had the local library come and share summer program info and bring applications for library cards. We divided parents into groups. Some went to the computer lab to learn about websites that would help their children. Others went to our Title I room to play learning games. We sent home the materials to play the games. The two groups then switched.

I hope I'm sending this to the right place.

I'm a reading specialist and wondered if anyone has ideas for parent meetings for Title I Reading? We always struggle to come up with something meaningful for parents. I work with K-2 but we are wanting ideas for K-5.

Thanks,
Jeanne
