If you could find some high interest articles that are persuasive or show
different views to share with your class and then discuss what the author's
purpose was. One of our programs had an article about the pros and cons of
playing video games and then another one was the positives of wearing school
uniforms and one was about only offering healthy items in vending machines.
Both articles were very good discussion starters and helped students think
about the author's purpose and begin thinking about the hows and whys of
persuasive writing. Hope this helps some.

Subject: [MOSAIC] Persuasive Writing

Hi,

I am looking for some ideas on how to introduce 6th graders to persuasive
writing. I have their final prompt ready but need ideas on how to
introduce/teach this type of writing. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Justin
