WHO IS JOHN MARTIN?
• Founder of Boys Read.
• Writer of middle-grade and YA novels.
• Teacher of numerous creative writing workshops
• Believes there’s a book and author out there for every boy.
FOCUS OF HIS PRESENTATION?
Preparing educators to be more effective in transforming boys into lifelong
readers. Focus on reluctant-readers, address the 4th grade reading-slump, and
narrow the gender reading gap between boys and girls. Other areas he may
address:
• How to better connect with boy readers
• The most up-to-date research on gender and learning
• How educators should consider gender as they design and
• implement lesson plans
