Hi there !
Congrats for this amazing software ;-)
I have a Raspberry Pi Camera NoIR installed, and I have configured motion
to save (with a event_gap of 10 minutes) the first photo of the motion
event (with the output_pictures = first attribute), and then with the
on_event_start, send that picture through email.
But this picture is taken from the stream, that is configured to 1024x578.
I'd like when that even is triggered to take a still picture with more
resolution (since the camera goes up to 2592 x 1944.
So, using the on_event_start command ... how can I (through console) take a
picture with full resolution of that moment ?
I tried with:
*raspistill -w 2592 -h 1944 -o /tmp/still.jpg*
But I got:
*mmal: mmal_vc_component_enable: failed to enable component: ENOSPCmmal:
camera component couldn't be enabledmmal: main: Failed to create camera
componentmmal: Failed to run camera app. Please check for firmware updates*
I don't know if it's maybe "motion" takes control and can't do that way. Do
I have to stop motion, take still and start motion again ? If yes, what is
the best way to do it ?
Thank you

Are you saying that while the camera is streaming at one resolution you
want it to take a still at another resolution? Is the camera capable of
doing that? Or have I misunderstood what you are trying to do.

Hello,
I know that motion is best linux software to record video when motion appears,
but I must record all the time 24/7
and show live stream on local monitor using webcam option.
Now I use timelapse option and it works very well, but max framerate is 1 FPS
and recorded video is very fast when I play it.
I think it's 24 times faster than I expect. There is any config to achieve
this? I mean record all the time with framerate eg. 15FPS
but when i play video it will be in 'normal' speed? Thanks.

There is a config option:
# Always save images even if there was no motion (default: off)
emulate_motion off

Hello everybody,
I am in an internship and I need to use Motion to capture pictures from a
webcam.
Here is my configuration :
Kernel version : 3.11-2-amd64
Distribution : Linux Mint LMDE Cinnamon Edition
Since Motion doesn't seem to be in the repositories of my distro, I tried to
install it from the svn repo :
$ svn co http://www.lavrsen.dk/svn/motion/branches/3.2/ .
I managed to install it without V4L by doing :
$ ./configure --without-v4l
$ make
$ make install
But with V4L I am getting through a lot of troubles:
$ ./configure
$ make
Generating dependencies, please wait...
In file included from motion.c:10:0:
motion.h:43:28: fatal error: linux/videodev.h: No such file or directory
#include <linux/videodev.h>
^
compilation terminated.
In file included from conf.c:26:0:
motion.h:43:28: fatal error: linux/videodev.h: No such file or directory
#include <linux/videodev.h>
^
...
...
Therefore I looked for a solution on internet and found out 2 possible
solutions :
$ apt-get install libjpeg62-dev
$ ln -s /usr/include/linux/videodev2.h /usr/include/linux/videodev.h
OR
$ apt-get install libv4l-dev
$ ln -s /usr/include/libv4l1-videodev.h /usr/include/linux/videodev.h
I tried the first one (videodev2.h) and got the following compilation errors :
motion.c:585:26: error: 'VIDEO_PALETTE_YUV420P' undeclared (first use in this
function)
cnt->imgs.type = VIDEO_PALETTE_YUV420P;
^
Therefore I replaced the constant by its value (found in
/usr/include/libv4l1-videodev.h).
And after that, I get a bunch of new errors :
http://pastebin.com/bg0UhjGz
Please, help me ! :)
Actually, what should I do now ?
Did someone tried to install it on Linux mint ?
Thank you.
