Thanks for the suggestion. After adding -lvorbisenc, I get the following
error:
gcc -L/usr/local/lib -o motion motion.o logger.o conf.o draw.o jpegutils.o
vloopback_motion.o video.o video2.o video_common.o netcam.o netcam_ftp.o
netcam_jpeg.o netcam_wget.o track.o alg.o event.o picture.o rotate.o
webhttpd.o stream.o md5.o netcam_rtsp.o ffmpeg.o sdl.o -lm -lpthread
-L/usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf -lSDL -ljpeg -L/usr/local/lib -lavformat
-lavcodec -lvorbisenc -lavutil -lm -lz -lswscale -lsqlite3/usr/bin/ld:
/usr/local/lib/libavcodec.a(libvorbisenc.o): undefined reference to symbol
'vorbis_comment_add_tag'
//usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libvorbis.so.0: error adding symbols: DSO
missing from command line
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status
So it appears I now need to include vorbis library, so adding -lvorbis,
resuts in another error which then complains about ogg, so after adding
-lvorbis and -logg, I get a whole slew of errors, so I add the
following: -lvorbisenc -lvorbis -logg -lfaac -lmp3lame
but now I get complaints about even more libraries, including a
libopencore-amr
gcc -L/usr/local/lib -o motion motion.o logger.o conf.o draw.o jpegutils.o
vloopback_motion.o video.o video2.o video_common.o netcam.o netcam_ftp.o
netcam_jpeg.o netcam_wget.o track.o alg.o event.o picture.o rotate.o
webhttpd.o stream.o md5.o netcam_rtsp.o ffmpeg.o sdl.o -lm -lpthread
-L/usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf -lSDL -ljpeg -L/usr/local/lib -lavformat
-lavcodec -lvorbisenc -lvorbis -logg -lfaac -lmp3lame -lavutil -lm -lz
-lswscale -lsqlite3
/usr/local/lib/libavcodec.a(libopencore-amr.o): In function
`amr_nb_decode_frame':
/home/gene/ffmpeg/libavcodec/libopencore-amr.c:122: undefined reference to
`Decoder_Interface_Decode'
/usr/local/lib/libavcodec.a(libopencore-amr.o): In function
`amr_wb_decode_close':
But when I try adding -lopencore-amr, it complains that it cannot find
-lopencore-amr.
I'm not sure what it going on, but it seems to require linking in every
library that ffmpeg was built with. Is this normal?

Probably you have built your ffmpeg with custom flags, like --enable-shared?
