Hi,

I was using motion with RPI camera on RPI 2, and I did not have any
problems. However, now I want to use RPI 3 due to performance reasons.

To install motion I used the same instructions as before, from this site:
http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/665518/Raspberry-Pi-as-low-cost-HD-surveillance-camera

The first problem I faced with was caused by:

sudo apt-get install -y libjpeg62 libjpeg62-dev libavformat53
libavformat-dev libavcodec53 libavcodec-dev libavutil51 libavutil-dev
libc6-dev zlib1g-dev libmysqlclient18 libmysqlclient-dev libpq5 libpq-dev

The error suggested me to instal libjpeg62-turbo and libjpeg62-turbo-dev
instead of the first two packages listed above.

Also, I could not install libav packages, so I just used a command:
*sudo apt-get
install libav-tools* instead.

After that I rebooted the RPI3, and motion does not work. My log file is
empty and I do not have any idea what is the error.

Can you please give me some feedback regarding this issue?

Also, I should mention that my RPI camera works fine without motion. So the
camera is not the problem.

Thank you in advance,

Slavica

The mmal camera (aka Pi camera) is now supported by the project but has
not been packaged yet. As such, you would need to build from source.
Instructions on building and configuration options can be reviewed
within the guide here.

Hello,

nice, thats the first time i hear this.
Have any one test this?
At time i use mpeg-streamer with Motion on the Rpi3 with cam V2.
I record timelabs videos and motion jpg at the same time with fixed night mode
all time. Do the new Motion this better?

regards Thomas
