Thanks for the detailed response.? I was hoping that someone out there had done
something similar or seen a solid step by step tutorial.? I've found individual
tutorials for things like enabling I2C and getting cameras working but
implementing the alarm functions has been evading me.? I see that motion can
run a script once triggered so that's what I need to learn more about.? I used
to code back in the early 90's but a stroke wiped that portion of my brain
out.? Getting it going again has been a real challenge.? I've been doing tons
of research and I think I can handle setting things up but I haven't found much
info on fine tuning, and how to program things to recognize a moving human in a
moving picture.?

I'll definitely do more searching on the terms that you suggested.? I'm also in
the middle of building an rPi powered cnc machine and am fighting the Ardour
learning curve so my head is an absolute mess of new software right now.

I'll definitely be putting up some blog posts about all of the projects once I
figure everything out and have working prototypes.

I'm sure that it's not gibberish at all to someone with more knowledge but it's
nearly all way over my head, and to my friends, I'm the computer guru...lol

To be completely honest, it's all written at a level that seems to assume some
pretty significant linux and coding knowledge.? I did figure out that setup is
done by editing the config file, but after messing with it for hours, all I got
it to do it turn on the led next to my webcam.? I can't even get the UI to
run.? I am a little mentally overloaded right now though so I'll definitely be
digging deeper.?

Subject: [Motion-user] Motion streaming issue
Message-ID: <[email protected]>
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="utf-8"

Good evening Mr. Kenneth,

I am a graduate student currently doing research on video streaming, during my
research i had to used motion which i really love. I did encounter some issues
and my question is:

I was able to stream video to localhost with motion in my ubuntu host machine.
BUt when I try to do the same thing in ubuntu VMware it shows me a message
saying watchdog error and does not connect me to the localhost nor show me any
video. I was wondering if the problem comes from the fact that motion cannot be
used to stream in the virtual machine or what may be the issue if this is not
the case?

I look forward to please hearing back from you.

Regards,
