An early Whip-poor-will has been calling in Ponto Lake Twp, near Deep Portage Learning Center. First heard on the 24th, it's about two weeks ahead of normal. Horned and Red-necked Grebes, along with Lesser Scaup and Red-breasted Mergansers, have been common on Leech Lake over the past week or so.
