New migrants this morning at Rapids Lake MVNWR were Tree Swallow, Hermit
Thrush, and Pine Siskin(assume this is a migrant since I didn't see any Siskins
all winter). Other highlights at Rapids Lake MVNWR were 4 Common Loons, 3
Eastern Phoebe, Yellow-rumped Warbler, a higher number of Fox Sparrow, and
American Woodcock. There is a definite increase in the number of Song
Sparrows around as well. There were 17 waterfowl species with very few geese
and no Tundra Swans across rural Carver County this morning. Most lakes are
still completely ice covered, but they are getting close to clearing.

Highlights at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum yesterday were a Great Horned
Owl being mobbed by crows, Eastern Phoebe, Golden and Ruby-crowned Kinglets,
and Yellow-rumped Warbler.

Like others, today was the first day I noticed frogs.
