Curt Rawn and I explored the Blue Hill hiking trails this morning. At one
point I briefly heard a couple of White-winged Crossbills fly over the
spruce stand, but we never heard them again (and we never saw them). The
only other things of note in the area were one or two Golden-crowned
Kinglets and a flyover of Common Redpolls.

There were little waterfowl on the lakes and pond and aside from the birds
in the spruce stand, very few songbirds. The music of Trumpeter Swans,
Sandhill Cranes, and an Eastern Meadowlark were greatly appreciated though.

I checked out a couple of spots in Golden Valley (Hennepin County) and
encountered little bird activity.

Good birding!
