There was an article a year or so ago in the StarTribune, I believe, about the proliferation of Osprey in the metro area in recent years being partially attributed to the large numbers of koi present in many small lakes and ponds. Koi can withstand conditions in ponds and lakes that many other fish cannot tolerate and multiply rapidly upon being released in these bodies of water.
