Dear Torsten,

The idea of a gedit plugin is simply to provide an alternative OPI, not to replace the "official" Emacs OPI. It first came from students, then Yves took over its implementation.

Not all Oz programmers are system hackers. For quite a few newcomers, Emacs is an obstacle to programming in Mozart. I think it is a good thing to provide alternatives, even if they are not available on all platforms.

Cheers,
raph

Dear Yves and Boriss,

thank you very much for working on this!!

However, may I ask why not aiming for a cross-platform editor? It appears gedit does not run on Windows and on MacOS only within X11. I feel, among all Mozart-users the Linux folk feels most at home with software like Emacs :)

Best
Torsten
