  There's no security in the email client atm. S/MIME will make its way 
into Moz on a later date. PGP support is mentioned here:

For day to day use encrypted email is an overkill because for most 
people it's too much hassle to set up, although if encrypted email was 
so easy to set up that people would use it by default then it'd increase 
peoples privacy.

Too many people send passwords and other personal details through email 
without considering the security risk.
