[Save] will push the new content to the repository, which is a WSDL service thing (source is in CVS, I'm told).
Above, a lie.
[Save] saves them locally, and then you need to File->Upload Contributions to send them over the wire (including a first-time registration involving an email confirmation, took me about 20 seconds).
