xpt files *are* loaded lazily. It is just a question of how many primary xpt files are linked together into larger and less numerous xpt files at packaging time. Zipping them together rather than xpt_linking them together is a big win. At least one of our embedding clients is taking advantage of that win. This is just a packaging issue.
