Nope. Installs in its own directory.

Can't say I like that much. If there's a 1.6 GRE already installed,
why can't I use that?

When I first heard of GRE, I thought it was a great idea: each version
is installed once on the system, eliminating redundancy. But what good
is it if apps can't use it?
