Avoiding native windows

Does anybody know whether embedding can be done without native windows? 
This has been asked before, but no real answers have come forth. If you 
have any thoughts on this, please post them...

I've been looking into the code, and it looks like I will have to 
implement a dummy nsBaseWidget class, since nsWebBrowser depends on a 
this, and the existing widgets need nativeWindow pointers.

It would be nice if I could restrict the problem to implementing a dummy 
window, but a quick look at some of the existing widgets suggests that 
they rely on native window handling functions.
