What exactly are you trying to accomplish? Basically having the gecko engine render to a canvas (or perhaps memory), rather than the window you pass to it?
I try to do automated dom handling - actually just getting urls after onload and various other javascript events. It needs to run on a server without a rendering context.
The closest I get is this thread: http://groups-beta.google.com/group/netscape.public.mozilla.embedding/browse_thread/thread/badbfe3862ac7e05/a99ba51c2356abca and this feature request: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=198376 but it seems rather dead.
