From what I understand of IE it basically uses the WebBrowser control itself. The Mozilla ActiveX Control uses Gecko in the same way as Mozilla and Firefox but has no connections to either browser.

I understand it is not *designed* to interact with the browser, but neither is the IE control. However, if you get a series of handles, you can control IE. Theoretically, you could dive for a similar handle through the Netscape window. If not, it would be an interesting stub for Mozilla to expose.
