With 166 Mhz machine, even Netscape 4.08 ran very slowly.  Though it is not 
the easiest browser to master, and has a steep learning curve, I would 
heartily recommend Opera 5.11, which is now free.  There is also a very 
good book (I can vouch for it as I know the author's work & have read much 
by him) by Jonathen Lyster "The Opera 5.x book" issued by No Starch Press
