   No, that's true.  But that doesn't mean that posting a static link
necessarily helps nobody.

   That's probably true in most of the individual cases.  Still, there
are some people who do function better with reference material, and
it's also the case that one person (Asa) can only do so much.  Given
enough people wanting one-one help, there would be a point where he
would not have the time to pay them the attention that they needed. 
At such a point it would be nice to have a "backup" system such as the
static link.

   I don't think that any of us who have been advocating a change in
one manner or another have said that any of the existing systems must
be discontinued.  All we're trying to do is add to what is already in
place.
