I can't speak for all of mozilla.org staff, but I personally would supporting changing both the Mozilla Linux icon and the Windows "about:" page to eliminate use of the star. (I think the Mozilla dinosaur head by itself would be a good replacement for both uses.) Feel free to file a bug about this. (For some reason I can't access Bugzilla right now.)
