Really, what source are you basing this on? Or is this some sort of 
"assimilation" attempt to make *every* cross represent christianity?

BTW. Just because Ford invented the mass-production car doesn't mean 
that every mass-produced car made today is a Ford. The Swiss are rather 
...ahem ... "neutral" when it comes to religeon - at a minimum, open 
minded and tolerant. The creation of the red cross had as little to do 
with Christianity as it could in those days. Why the constant attempt to 
  associate the red cross with christianity? (assimilation?) ;)

You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile. Oops, that's a different 
extremist "group" ;)

Just like not every cross represents christianity, not "in every gook 
there is an American waiting to get out" (Apocalypse Now! ?). Things 
evolve and take on new meaning. Sometimes, they never had the meaning 
that revisionists try to attach to it at a later date.
