First off, what is the real problem?  Why do you thoroughly hate it?

That is almost certainly true. Note that if we cut every feature that 
wasn't universally agreed on, we'd probably have only 2-3 features.

This seems to presuppose that it is just a bad thing to do, there are no 
alternatives or ways to amelieorate it, and it should just be removed. 
 Has that been established?
