I believe the original source code was released on March 31, 1998 or
thereabouts. The decision was made to switch to nglayout about 6 months
later or so. So, the project is just about three years old, this
specific code base is about 2 and a half.
Some people see that Microsoft has been aboe to release 4 new operating
system versions since the initial release of source code for the Mozilla
Project and without knowing the fiscal disparities wonder how it is that
it takes longer to write one browser version than 4 operating systems.
