"scriptable" just means that it *can* be called from JS. Scriptable functions are called all the time from C++ code (the 'xpidl' program translates the .idl file into a .h file that can be used by c++.

could you be more specific? there are many differenct ways to "extend" a function.
It's nsMsgIdentity::GetSignature which should also return the line count and the max line length for usage in Bug 45137.
