I know very little about the workings of Visual Studio(any version) but want to suggest that a meaningful error message would be useful in this circumstance. The "readme.txt" file in the "build.vc10" directory seems much improved and perhaps this potential problem could be mentioned there if an error message when building could not be output.

The full release will avoid one of the issues you faced because I have
now removed illegal build configurations.

So an attempt to build an x64 project in win32 mode will be ignored
instead of giving an error.

Hopefully you will be able to do the x64 stuff before too long.
