The basic reality is that the police dept. is our police dept.and our sense
of ownership and involvement has a great impact. I am not a cheerleader for
the MPD.
But here I am jumping up and down waving my pom poms franticly. I am
constanlty
I do have some suggestions
I do have a vision for a better relationship between the police and
neighborhoods.
I have had many conversations with members of the Minneapolis Police
Dept., most recently with Deputy Chief Hestness and the president of the
police union John Delmonico. I will to continue to try to find forums to get
more public conversations about how to improve the relationship between
neighborhoods and police.
. I have looked at historical and comparitive analyses of police
strategies. If folks could talk about how Mpls. and St. Paul have a very
different covenent between citizens and police, I think that would be helpful.
