SSB won by less than 10,000 votes. Also it looks like voter turnout went
down.

I understand that many folks complained about posts I (and others) made to
the list regarding the lake street motel. These complaints generally went
to the moderator--David Brauer, and not to me. I'd like to encourage folks
to contact me directly (privately) if you want to complain about any posts
I make to the list. Also, I have to say, that I find posts that complain
about what is on the list, on the list, much more of a waste of time than
any particular issues.

I don't consider it a personal attack, when one disagrees with someone
else's reasoning. Racism and classism and other prejudices are serious
issues. However, when folks use those issues as weapons to attack people
personally, I find that tactic despicable, and I will say something about
it. I'm tired of this type of demogogery being used as a method to silence
debate. Ironically, this type of behavior does nothing to promote racial
reconciliation, and only exacerbates racial tensions.

Finally, since cnia-chat was mentioned. Here is the scoop: cnia-chat is a
list for discussing issues related to Central Neighborhood and CNIA. I
have encouraged folks on that list to join the Minneapolis Issues list, and
encouraged folks to post on this list to get some of the Central concerns
out to a wider audience. I think some of the I 35 ramp discussion showed
how in some ways, this situation pits one neighborhood against another.
The Motel Central discussion annoyed some, but also it got some of the 8th
ward city council candidates to look at different alternatives. Robert
Lilligren has an interesting proposal which will address some of the
concerns of both sides of this issue. Brian Herron has agreed to meet with
Robert Lilligren and talk about this proposal.

Robert Lilligrens Open House:

About 30 or so folks showed up for Robert Lilligren's open house last
night. It was lots of fun. Walt Gutzmer stopped by to give his support
for Lilligrens 8th ward candidacy. So there were almost half as many folks
showing up for this campaign event as showed up for the 8th ward DFL
convention. I think that says something.
