Mr. Gustafson,
No disrespect to you, it's just that I see it from a point of view of
borrowing from our children's future. If I'm correct you look at the
world like a checkbook, um, looks like I got $500 in my account, I can
easily spend $300 and I won't be overdrawn.
The way I look at it, we've been writing bad checks for a number of
years. Of course this was encouraged by Manifest Destiny. (and when it
was survival, I understand why they did what they did) When I said it's
like breathing, I meant it comes naturally. When we have the Manifest
Destiny Mindset, it comes naturally to remake our landscape. To be more
Mpls specific, which I know Mr. Bauer appreciates, when I look at all
the new asphalt bike and walking paths, and numerous mini parking lots
at the south end of Minnehaha Park (where many Bur Oak trees had been
growing).
I wonder is this really necessary?, wouldn't one be enough?, do they
need to be so wide? oops, you left some trees standing.
Thanks, but no thanks.
All the asphalt does is cause erosion,(runoff) any high school student
knows this. All the expansion does is drive the wildlife from our park.
Any grade school student knows this, so yes it must be a secret mission
to degrade our parks, no one in their right mind would do such a thing.
Basically, the mission to destroy the environment works like this, if
it's not in our way, if it doesn't inconvenience us, if it doesn't cost
to much money it can stay. But the minute that it breaks our rules,
which invariable Nature does, it will have to go. Never mind any of
those people that don't agree with us. we're right. we always are.
because might makes right, don't you know that Mr. Yorga? We will do
what we want, when we want, how we want, whenever we want, to whoever we
want, and it's been endorsed by your politician, so that makes it ok.
And then we'll throw so many arguments into the mix, that well, it's not
so easy to tell right from wrong. And then the older generation wonders
why the younger generations do as they do....I'll let you in on another
secret, They learn it from their elders.
We just see things very differently, and that's just swell.
It just seems whenever I find a cool place to get away from the stress
of modern life, the first question that pops into my head is "Will they
take this place from me too?"
Why is that, Mr. Gustafson?
If this hasn't made it crystal clear, nothing I say will.
p.s. I like the checks and balances of our rickety government. It slows
down the corruption.
p.p.s. I had to laugh at Carol Becker's comment on our expanding park
system, oh my, look at how it's expanding!!!!!!!!!
Many Crows,
aka
Robert Yorga
