I'm considering changing our Digest format from plain-text to MIME, and I need your feedback to me off list at [EMAIL PROTECTED] For most of you who don't know the technical mumbo-jumbo, MIME lets you read fancy formats (such as AOL's HTML, that lets you do the pretty fonts) in their full glory. While I STRONGLY discourage members from sending posts in anything other than plain-text (because viruses can get through this way), we haven't found a good way for AOL users to use plain-text. The current situation is this: if a post comes through HTML, and is repackaged in the Digest, Digest subscribers get a ton of junk characters (the extra HTML formatting) that really screws up being able to read the content. If I send Digests in MIME, you can read Digests including the pretty formats, though downloads will be somewhat longer and there's a very minimal risk a virus could pop through (this has only happened once in three years, and I am armed with better tools for catching these before it gets to a digest.) Anyway, the biggest potential problem is that some of you have older email programs that can't read HTML (in other words, only plain text). If you are a Digest reader, and this is a problem - or you can think of other problems - let me know as soon as possible so I don't make the switch and screw a lot of you up. Again, feedback NOT to the list but to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thanks, David Brauer List manager, Minneapolis-Issues _______________________________________________ Minneapolis Issues Forum - Minnesota E-Democracy Post messages to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subscribe, Unsubscribe, Digest option, and more: http://e-democracy.org/mpls
