Thanks for asking, Carol: I'm happy to say that I went to all unions representing those who work at City Hall asking simply for their endorsement. I aked for no money or help.
My statement was that I have been a manager in the private sector, and the head of my union's worker participation committee. I came out of both experiences with a strong feeling that the workforce needs to be involved to truly reform a system. No "deals" on who will run the departments. No "deals" on help in the campaign. A couple members of the unions that endorsed the Mayor before I met with them tried to keep the city workers from supporting me, but that pressure doesn't seem to be working. I'm very proud of the fact that those who work day to day inside a divided City Hall support my call for a change. R.T.
