I may have heard him wrong on the TV show. However, Mr. Zimmerman's
correction makes matters WORSE.

He corrected me by saying that Minneapolis has 11% of Minnesota's population
and 19% of Minnesota's taxable property. Therefore, Minneapolis taxpayers
should pay less than other cities.

His theory makes sense - but that's not happening - in fact the opposite is
true. Minneapolis taxes continue to rise (11.6 per cent increase for next
year), while other cities' taxes stay even or drop.

I just received my proposed property tax statement for my home in St. Paul.
I couldn't believe my eyes, but they are 33% LOWER than last year.

Something's wrong in Minneapolis - too much debt, shrinking tax capacity,
taxes too high to attract people and businesses, deteriorating City
services, etc. etc.

That's what happens when a bunch of women go on a ten year shopping spree!
A handful of people got very, very rich......and the rest of us will be
very, very poor for a long time.

Our new Mayor and Council have a big mess on their hands. Let's be sure
that they don't get blamed for it.
