Just a couple quick questions for those Northeasters in the know. What's the status of those planning to open a NE food coop? I'm interested in signing up. Seems now if the beef doesn't get you, the lettuce will. E-coli be damned!
How 'bout those earwigs this summer? Does anyone else have a problem with these pesky little insects?? They're new to the area, and if you haven't seen them yet, I fear you will soon. About a half inch long, dark reddish brown, six legs, sharp pincers at the tip of the abdomen like a scorpion. They're showing up in droves in the dark spaces of my basement. They're pincing my friends and making me nervous. One even got into a water glass at my bedside and ended up in my mouth at night! Who has some good ideas for eliminating these pests. I'm avoiding the use of Diazinon to spare my pregnant wife and cats potential harm. Now onto vacant lots: >From MCDA meeting minutes Feb-15-02: http://www.mcda.org/agenda_actions/board_minutes/february_15_02.htm The Chairperson declared that the motion passed and the documents adopted. The Mayor approved Document No. 2002-019M on February 15, 2002, and approved the balance of the documents on February 21, 2002. Filed as follows: Document No. 2002-017M - Adopt Resolution No. 2002-2555M selling 3548 Polk Street NE to Ruth Ann Drolsum (WP-1A) for $250 and to KJMS, Inc. (WP-1B) for $250, contingent upon lot division by City Council (2, Pray) What does this mean? This lot is down the block, across the street from me, and I've been curious about it ever since moving into the neighborhood over a year ago. My neighbor told me a house sat on the lot a few years ago but was condemned after severe flooding. Later, the city improved a storm sewer and solved the flooding problem. Is it really possible that it's been sold for a paltry $250? I'm wondering what's intended for this parcel?
