These things are everywhere! I counted 12 on my short
bike-ride home from the University today. (And
interestingly, the sightings increased as I neared my
Phillips house.)

I have lived at my house for 4 years now, and have
consistently planted certain flowers with the hope of
attracting butterflies and hummingbirds. (Butterfly
weed, red Gladiolus, Columbine, etc.) Apart from one
hummingbird (or hummingbird moth, it was hard to tell)
and a handful of butterflies here and there, I've seen
nothing until these past few days, when we have become
inundated.

Is it the weather? The season? Does anybody know??

Not complaining at all, but really curious,

Connie Nompelis

P.S. Have we concluded that they're Painted Ladies? I
don't know my butterflies too well, but the
descriptions so far proffered here are identical to
what I'm seeing.
