And I thought Roger was stuttering!!!!!

Actually I keep a log of usefull information like this in a word document.
After 4 years here on the LIST the document is getting rather large BUT...it
has (thanks to the many contributions from the knowledgeable LISTers) gotten
me out of trouble MANY times at customers sites. Maybe I should publish it
in a FAQ book at Daltons with a very good INDEX!!

Roger,

Wow, you are really prescient. I didn't know that about the
double-asterisk.
Thank you answering the question I haven't gotten around to asking yet and
solving the problem that has been bugging me for a few days.

Regards,
Dave A.

setmqaut -m MyQMgrName -t queue -g mygroup -n ABC.XYZ.** +allmqi

The second line allows you to do puts/gets/inquires against any queue that
begins with ABC.XYZ (and Yes, the 2 asterisks are important).

If you had only 1 asterisk (i.e. ABC.XYZ.* ) then you would fail security
if
the queue was called 'ABC.XYZ.QUAL3.QUAL4'. But would be ok
against 'ABC.XYZ.QUAL3'

Therefore, use the double asterisk when there could be "n" qualifiers to a
queue name.
