Is it worth the effort? * License-cost
o One license per desktop * Implementation cost o Deploy agents o Review SCOM-environment: can it cope with the load? o Install gateways for remote locations o File-server to upload crash dumps o ... * Maintenance cost o Issues with monitoring agents o Update agents o "do something" with the received feedback Will you effectively do something with it? (impact of a desktop is generally 1 person <=> impact of a server is a lot of people. Exceptions are kiosk pc's or pc's running a server application (=> pleas avoid this)) If you have answered yes on all accounts, maybe provide us with the motivation to use desktop monitoring. Possible motivations are: * Trend application crashes * Use them for synthetic transaction monitoring from different sites * Monitor resource usage on clients Bad motivations: * Inventory of hardware and software running on the pc's (use SCCM) * Detect configuration drift (SCCM) Many regards, David Biot Technical Project Leader [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> Direct +32 2 801 41 52 [cid:[email protected]] This e-mail message and any attachment are intended for the sole use of the recipient(s) named above and may contain information which is confidential and/or protected by intellectual property rights.
