Hi et al

yesterday, I had a very odd occurrence on my iPone 4S running IOS 7.0 prior to
upgrading it to 7.0.2.

In response to a position I applied to on the 30/9/2013, I received a phone
call from a recruiter

Name: LLOYD HARRINGTON AUSTRALIA PTY LTD
ACN: 136 810 583
ABN: 44 136 810 583

where, my iPhone, displayed my own mobile phone number as the caller id.

Letting the call go through to my voice mail, they left a message, with their
correct call back number. My voice mail system, also captured the caller id as
my mobile number.
After checking my voice mail, I called the recruiter, and left a message as the
person was 'out to lunch'.
They rang back, a few hours later, and again, the caller id displayed, was my
mobile number.

I promptly, backed up my phone and upgraded it to 7.0.2, and re-installed
applications, etc.

After lengthy discussions today, with my carrier, who confirmed a 'glitch' and
discussions with LLyod Harrington, that their VOIP phone system ( GrandStream),
has for the past 3 months, occasionally sent out, the incorrect caller-id.

After contacting AppleCare, to confirm, if there was any possibility, that my
iPhone configuration, could 'trick me' into thinking that I was calling myself,
to which they have confirmed, a very confident 'NO' and that the caller-id must
have been sent via the carrier.

Has anyone come across this 'scam' recently ?

Does anyone know, if it is still illegal, under the telecommunications act, to
impersonate ( clone ) a caller id in Australia ?

Is this a reportable offence ?

Was this a singular instance against a 'Prostate Cancer Survivor' or have they
been using, tactics to impersonate other phone numbers ? ( Looking for any
other know instances of configuration options that could mimic my situation. )

Regards,

Mark A. Lane
