Hi all, this might seem an odd question, but bear with me...
We have a number of Oracle servers running Solaris (10 and 11). They arrive to us pre-configured for the medical software they run, and support was provided by the local reseller. We recently decided to cease our service contract with the reseller, and do our own support for the application. For most of the fleet (X3-2 and similar) we have Interactive to provide hardware support in case of failures. However, we have some X6-2 servers that Interactive say they can't support, because "These devices can require a service password only available to Oracle when certain replacements are made. The password is generated dynamically based on the server and date and is only valid for a limited time." So I guess it's a few questions: 1. Are we tied into only being able to get support from Oracle? 2. I assume the X6-2 servers would have been purchased by the original reseller with hardware support - is there a way to find out, and get this transferred to us? 3. How do you get Oracle support for hardware? If anyone on this list has experience with this scenario, I'd love to hear from you. Helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Philip
