We have used the MSP on a number of projects requiring interface to 5 volt perpherials. For outgoing ONLY, we use 74HCTxx (the T is important) with their Vcc at 5v. For input and/or bi-directional we use IDT's QuickSwitch products. http://www.idt.com/products/pages/Bus_Switches.html
