I wrote several paragraphs and then deleted them all, because I could
not
adequately express my incredulity and disbelief that you believe you are
owed free software that does what you expect it to. The analogy made to car
seats is so far off base that I had to read it 2 or 3 times to make sure
there wasn't some missing word or something that would suddenly make sense.

If you find a piece of gum laying in the street, do you chew it, and
then
raise hell with the manufacturer because it didn't taste as you expect? You
have no right to expect people who write free software to make it do what
*you* want. Your only position is to take what's given. When you start
paying for it, and have an agreement that the author is accepting payment
for features you wish implemented, *then* you have a basis for complaint.

Now Dmitry and crew are a lot smarter than I am, when it comes to
compilers. I've found a couple of quirks in the compiler (and a couple
that, well, weren't, but I'm hoping Dmitry will overlook that little
incident...), and I submitted the bugs. I hoped they would be fixed. I was
pleased when they were, and in a right fast fashion. But I had no expection
that they should be fixed, just because the compiler didn't do what I
wanted.

I think you need to step back and make a clear examination of what you
are
owed when you purchase something ("consumer rights"), and what you are owed
when someone gives you something for free ("nothing").
