OK, I got GCC 3.2.3, now I can't seem to get the latest files for the 
msp430 gcc-3.3 cvs
When I look at them on the web I see the latest ones with the updated
device support, but when I do a checkout, I'm getting older ones.
I tried cvs update as well, same result.  Tried deleting the local 
files, same result.  My guess is I need something else to cvs than just 
checkout, I dunno, this is quite frustrating.
