I did eventually find instructions for anon CVS access that
worked (there are a lot of broken instructions on various
pages).
Sourceforge moved CVS a while ago, and we haven't been through all the pages properly, undating the links.

According to the readme.txt in the python dirctory, there are
windows binary installers available for download, but I sure
couldn't find them.

The only windows installer I could find was the main mspgcc
one, but it crashes with an illegal 16-bit DOS instruction when
I try to run it.
The main windows installer contains the Python programs, along with everything else. What version of Windows are you trying to run it on? I should run on anything from Win98 to WinXP. However, we no longer have any Win98 machines to test it with.
