We've thought about it. We don't have room for two connectors,
and a 3-pin BSL connector doesn't really take much less board
space than a 6-pin JTAG connector. Since you can't debug via
BSL we picked JTAG.
Once units are in teh field, the primary upate mechanism will
be via software through a different interface -- the JTAG
interface will be a fallback.
