Hello,

First thanks to the people who have replied to my question and aplogies as
well.

I guess i have put in my question inappropriately. Firstly, i am novice in
the filed of embedded systems and work in networking. I have taken interest
in the area of embedded controllers so as to use such systems in sensor
networking domain. To that effect, i have designed a very basic board that
integrates MSP430 and a radio and would want to program this platform to
achieve some processing and networking.

So i want to know as to whats the best way to start learning to program
MSP430. If this is the wrong forum to ask this, can you please suggest me
where to look for information towards that.

Regards
Naveen

use GCC for MSP430.

What?
Why Mac? Fortunately, gcc works on many systems.

from the experienced people on this list to advise me as to how to get
started with programming MSP430. I have browsed the net and there appears to
be immense information about this and would want to take tips as to what
should i start with? I have downloaded IAR workbench and code composer
essential as suggested in the TI site and would like to know your opinion on
them and advice me as to what should i start with?

Hi Naveen,

That's the wrong way. You have explain your task. What do you want to do
with your MSP?
Have you expertise in embedded controlers?

Some good basics are for the MSP in :
