I did some quick tinkering to see how to get the script to work within BGInfo.
It’s very basic but it demonstrates how the script results get into BGInfo.

So, here is a simple 2 line script that pulls the current date and “echoes” it.

oRightNow = Date
Echo "" & oRightNow & “"

In BGInfo you set up a custom variable and point it at this VBScript. Then,
when BGInfo updates it will execute the script and take the results and display
it.

So, you write a VBScript that gathers some single piece of information. Assign
it to a variable and then “echo” that variable. BGInfo intercepts that echo
and places it on screen.

I think the last logged on user might not be possible, or at least pretty
difficult. Since BGInfo runs in the user’s session the script will pick up
that user’s login. Essentially it would show the currently logged in user.

I haven’t had to pull that sort of info before so I could be wrong.

Either way, if I remember correctly BGIinfo will execute the scripts you assign
when it starts up. All your script has to do is echo out the information you
are looking for. Your script executes and performs what ever checks you are
looking for and then Wscript.echo “your results” at the end. BGInfo takes what
is written to the console and displays it on the background.

What last logon info are they looking for? The login time? Who last logged
in? What specifically are they wanting displayed?

Mike

Subject: [mssms] last logon information - OSD Process

Good Morning / Evening,

One of the requirement from client is to display background information on the
desktop screen (IP Address, MAC address, Logon Server etc..). I was able to
find bginfo.exe using which we could provide the information on desktop
background. However client is looking for last logon information also to be
displayed with other information.

Unfortunately the bginfo.exe tool does not provide last logon information. But
this tool provides a feature to include a vbs script and create a custom step.

Do anybody have a vbs script which can be embedded with tool to facilitate the
client requirement.

Any help will appreciated.
