No, I don't believe that is true.  SCCM treats Software Updates deployments
the same as any other application or package, and that is, it respects
maintenance windows. It won't install updates outside of a maintenance
window unless that box is checked, regardless of the deadline.  That check
box specifically tells the computer whether or not to ignore a maintenance
window when the deadline is reached.
