More corectly an elco is a polarised capacitor.A normal capacitor isn't
polarised, so the plus/minus connection doesn't matter. To achieve a
higher capacity and keep it compact the elco is polarised, so you have
to make sure that you don't switch the plus/minus or the elco blows up,
literaly. And there is some acid in those elcoos so if it blows up and
the stuff gets on your skin...it itches all day long !!
