Your error search method is fine: isolate components and the remaining part
must be in error.
(Occams razor for the philosophical minded).

Since the IDE interface works (can you use IDEfload on the other MSX?) it
must be your MSX :(
Do other cartridges still work in the slot?
Is there dirt on the connectors of the slot? Since it has been working and
then suddenly stopped it might be that the connector was corroded or
otherwise stopped making good contact.
Cleaning might help.
