When I received my SVI-738, it's disk drive only could read old disks formatted with the same computer. Then, I changed it's disk drive with a PC High-density one, and it works fine without any other modification: just plug it.
Anyway, it's true that the original BIOS supports 720 KB disks but it is really slow, it takes a long time to format one disk.
